Cotton Ball Snowman

Evan often has a look of boredom on his face when he is not engaged by one of us. Here Meghan was playing with a ball, and he was very interested.

We made this snowman. I had cut the three white circles, a hat, eyes and buttons from black squares, an orange triangle nose, and a red heart mouth. I gathered the supplies and then we talked about snowmen.

First secure the circles with glue and putting more glue on top. Then put the cotton balls on the gluey area of the circles. Next top them with the shapes. She didn't quite understand that the buttons were to go down the front of the snowman, in case you couldn't tell. You could also use toothpicks for arms. Meghan had already reached her tolerance level so we did not include them.

To turn this into a speech activity, Meghan could say "ball" each time she glued a ball (though she glued less than half). She can also say "hat," "eye," and "nose." She attempts "heart."

The snowman may be an oldie, but it's always a hit!
