Independence Day

Earlier this month, my sister Amy, her son Indigo, and our friend Christy came to visit us for a few days.

We were able to play with sparklers (for the first time!) and watch beautiful fireworks from the driveway.
Being Independence Day, Meghan showed her patriotic flare by making this flag.
Before we said our goodbyes, we managed to take a picture.  (We were about to go to swim lessons.)
This is about as good as it gets...pretend I'm smiling.  :)
It was a great visit!  They don't happen often enough!

Evan Dr.

On the way home from church we pass a road that bears the name of our son (since he always asks what signs say).  I mentioned this, and Meghan said, "Oh, I know!  Evan Doctor!" having seen the sign many times.

I explained that sometimes the abbreviation DR often refers to doctors, but if it is for a road it is for- "Drive!" Meghan finished.  (We live on a Drive.)

Evan was delighted about the road.  It'd been a long time since we had pointed it out to him, and he didn't remember.

Grown-Up Dreams

Evan enjoys telling us about the things he wants when he grows up.

Initially, he spoke about the pick-up truck he wants to have.  Sometimes it is black and white; more recently it is gray.  It does have running boards though!

Evan also wants a small, one-story, brick house.  It will not have a basement.  A fireplace will allow him to roast marshmallows indoors.  The small kitchen will be in the shed, but it won't have an oven.  He wants his house to be next to ours.  The house details do not change like the truck's do, but he does add new details occasionally.  Today he added the fireplace.

I love when Evan dreams aloud!

Gaps

Last week we were at Pinebrook (family camp in the Poconos of PA...I will share more on that later).
While in class, Meghan pulled out a bottom tooth.  (The top gap is from a tooth Meghan pulled in her final days of school a month ago.)
Today Meghan pulled another tooth during rest time.
Here is the view from upside down.
Pretty soon she'll have a diet of mashed potatoes, applesauce, and smoothies!

Tee Ball Season

Meghan had a good tee ball season.
She really improved her batting and speed.
At the awards ceremony, all of the towns tee ball players lined up on the field.  Each child was called, one by one, until there was just one little girl left on the field.
Then she received her trophy, too!
We have received so much rain recently that the big baseball field was too wet to play the "all-star" game there.  The kids played in the outfield at the big field.  (For tee ball, two random teams are picked for the all-star game.)  Unfortunately, due to the storms, the PA system was not working, so the kids didn't really hear their names called.

I think we are all glad the season is over and we can relax a bit more!
