Meghan's Flute Recital

Meghan learns music quickly. In fact, I'm amazed at how often she doesn't even need to have her music book in sight and can still play.

However, Meghan doesn't enjoy the work involved in practicing for flute. So this is the only year she intends to play. Maybe she'll change her mind in the future though.
And here is a video of "Ode to Joy." I hope you like it as much as I did!

You can also view it at https://youtu.be/PN5hOYIqFOw.

The Jeep

Last night while Evan and Derek were at baseball practice, the girls and I went to a friend's house and bought this Jeep from them. Evan has been asking for one for years. We didn't want to get one knowing he'd outgrow it soon, but for a great price we'll be happy even if he only gets a summer's use out of it.

Esther tried it out last night.
While eating breakfast, Evan asked if he could ride it this morning. I fully anticipated he would want to.
He wouldn't look at me for a picture, but you can see he was loving it.
After Esther was dressed, he picked her up for a ride.
All of this before 7 o'clock! Now the battery is charging to prepare for their after-school fun.

(Meghan is a couple inches taller than Evan. She will be able to ride in it, but only if she doesn't mind an awkward ride!)

Mother's Luncheon with Evan

Today Evan's school hosted a Mother's Luncheon. Evan made a menu with the options for me to choose from, and then he served me a lovely lunch. Afterwards, we went to his classroom where he had two gifts for me.
The first was a wonderful card. Not only did it have a cut out heart, it also had a pop-up heart. (And thank you, Evan for these photographs.)
The other gift was a book of five different types of poems (complete with a table of contents).
This is called a shape poem. The sentences form letters!
What a fun day with my son!

(I especially like how Mrs. Hudson had the students writing poetry with a purpose...a gift!)

Mother's Tea with Esther

Esther's preschool has a Mother's Tea for the moms or other loved ones. My friend took a couple pictures of us.
