Pig Tail Comparisons

Derek often suggests that I do comparison/flashback pictures of the kids.  I knew this would be one of those times.  On my own, I attempted to hack into the portable hard drive to retrieve the very picture below that I was seeking.  (Though we still have the computer that we used in 2006, it is not hooked up.)  I was unsuccessful. Today I sought Derek's help.  He immediately came to my rescue.

This first picture is of Meghan.  It is a long-time favorite of mine.  Age fourteen months and sporting her very first pig tails.  Not only that, but in all that cuteness, she is also trying to snap her fingers.  Look closely (enlarge by clicking if desired).  Her first tooth has just popped through the gums.  (Photo is from our kitchen in our first house.)
Fast forward five years.  Esther was nearly sixteen months before she could have her first pig tails.  They are rather sparse, though long.  She has a mouthful of teeth.  In fact, the only way I could get her to stand/sit still for a photo was to take her in the bathroom and let her brush her teeth.
Below is a photo of her reflection.  (There is a bit of a sticker on the mirror.)
Some more sweet pictures of Meghan from when she was the same age Esther is now, in February 2008.  (Remember, they are only five years and a couple days apart in age.)

Wow.  Our girls are lovely!

(Esther's pig tails fell out within an hour or so.  Derek never saw them.)

Lego Love

We love how Legos have brought these two together for play like nothing else!  Notice the fire truck and princess!

We were hesitant to introduce Evan to Legos since he turns all small toys into "dirt" and "garbage" for playing.  As we carefully provided guidance, he has shown great responsibility.  You can read about it at This Simple Home.

Smiles and Pajamas

With all three children freshly bathed and ready for bed, I thought I would attempt a few pictures.  Below are all of the attempts.
This post was provided for your own amusement.  I hope you enjoyed.

What's New with Us

Life really has been busy for us recently.  I suppose at one time when we were busy, that would have meant that I had more to blog about.  However, time gets away from me a bit.  You can keep up with us at the other blog, too, where I post a few times a week.

Evan's new passion is Legos.  Oh, he loves them!  He has just one small set.  With it he makes fire trucks, helicopters, and more.  One of his own creations was a sled!

This week something interesting happened with Evan.  Right before preschool dismissal he was having problems with his leg.  He could sometimes walk, but would sometimes fall to the ground.  At home, I tested him a bit.  It seemed that he was okay until it was bent.  He could go up the stairs as long as he went with his good leg first.  I made an appointment for the next day, but when he awoke from his nap he was ALL better!

Evan will have an appointment with his neurologist this week.  We don't expect to have anything to report.  No changes can be a good thing!
I gave Meghan a curly-do today for church.  She asked (in all seriousness) if she looks like Mrs. D, our friend with dark brown curly hair.  So cute.

You might notice that she has a red line on her chin.  That was from curiosity.  I had made soft pretzels and she leaned her chin against the cookie sheet to smell them.  Not the best of ideas, but they sure were good.  It was my first attempt at pretzels.  I will certainly make them again, but a double batch!  (I used this recipe.) The previous week Meghan's clogged tear duct was really affecting her due to the wind outside.  In addition, she was having some acne, too.  Looking better now!
This past week Esther was rather sick.  I thought it was due to her shots, but the nurse assured me that digestive problems of this sort don't happen due to immunizations.  (She did have a fever for a day that was due to the shots...)  Esther was overflowing her diapers for about five days, with two days that were rather intense.  She also threw up twice, on separate days.

Esther has been quite sick this winter...and the fall.  Colds, infections, stomach bugs...no fun!

(The helicopter was Evan's, but Esther is just starting to enjoy it.)
This girl knows how to work the camera...silly thing!
This one is pretty cute, too!

Wiping it away...he did the same thing!
